NAP Regional Committee meets to review law & order situation in Mirpur-AJK division

MIRPUR (AJK) , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 8th May, 2026) A meeting of the Regional Committee of the NAP for the Implementation of the National Action Plan was held to review measures to maintain peace and order in all three districts of Mirpur Division.

The meeting decided to keep security at all entry points on high alert, ensure foolproof arrangements regarding the security of foreigners including Chinese.

The meeting gave instructions to all law enforcement agencies to start a general hold-up against illegal foreign residents including Afghan refugees, illegal Currency and money exchange, unregistered madrassas, non-customs paid and unregistered vehicles, frustrating any attempt of terrorism and militancy across the division, the sources said

Instructions were also given to the law enforcement functioneries to prevent smuggling and start a general hold-up against unregistered and non-custom paid vehicles

Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan said "the National Action Plan is a plan for national security and stability, for which there should be no compromise on the implementation of the laws that will be made.

The law and order situation in the upcoming elections should be made satisfactory and the administration and police should demonstrate impartiality for the conduct of free, fair and transparent elections discouragng interference in the democratic process. A peaceful and pleasant environment should also be provided to the public for free and fair elections", the Commissioner added.

DIG police Kamran Ali informed the house that foolproof security arrangements have been made in collaboration with the administration, police and sensitive agencies to maintain law and order in Mirpur division.

"No one is above the law and the constitution, and no concessions are being made to anyone", the DIG said adding those found involved in defying law will be dealt with according to the state laws and the laws promulgated under the National Action Plan", he declared.
