Nasir Shah Lays Foundation Stone of Modern Foundation Hospital in Sukkur

SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Provincial Minister for Local Government and Energy, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shehzad Khan on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of a new hospital to be constructed by the Modern Health and education Foundation in Sukkur.

Speaking at the ceremony, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the establishment of the Modern Hospital by the foundation, with a spirit of public service, is a commendable initiative and assured full support for its completion. He highlighted that the Sindh government is actively working to provide free and quality healthcare services across the province in various specialties, including heart, liver, and kidney treatments. He added that patients not only from Sindh but also from Balochistan and Punjab travel to Sindh for quality medical care.

The minister further stated that, on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh government is expanding its healthcare services beyond provincial boundaries, with two major SIUT and NICVD hospitals being established in Punjab.

CEO of Modern Hospital, Shahid Mehmood, informed that the 100 bed state-of-the-art hospital in Sukkur is planned to be completed within two years, at an estimated cost of Rs. 1 billion for construction and Rs. 800 million for medical equipment. He said the hospital will provide modern, safe, and affordable healthcare services to the middle class, with high quality treatment at low cost for those who can pay, and completely free services for deserving patients without requiring any Zakat form submission.

He added that the Modern Health and Education Foundation already operates a network of 7 hospitals and 14 clinics across Sindh, providing medical care to thousands of patients.

Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shehzad Khan and other speakers also addressed the ceremony, appreciating the initiative. Later, Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah answered questions from media representatives on various political and public interest matters.
