National Women’s Day provides us with opportunity to renew our commitment to empower women: Saira Atta

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Secretary Women Development Department Balochistan Saira Atta Baloch on Tuesday said that women would play a key role in the development and prosperity of any society.

She said that National Women’s Day provides us with an opportunity to renew our commitment to empower women, give them equal rights and provide equal opportunities to move forward in every sphere of life.

She said this while talking to APP. Saira Atta Baloch said that the Balochistan government is taking several practical steps for the welfare, education, health and economic independence of women.

She said that various programs are underway to make women in rural and remote areas skilled, provide them with small business opportunities and provide effective protection against violence.

She said that legal assistance, counseling services and helplines are being made more effective to solve the problems being faced by women so that immediate and dignified help could be provided to the affected women.

She said that the overall development of society is not possible unless women are provided with opportunities for education, employment and full participation in the decision-making process.

She stressed that parents and teachers should pay special attention to the education of girls because education is the strongest means of empowering women.

She said that government and private institutions would have to make joint efforts to highlight the capabilities of women and include them in the national mainstream.

The Secretary Women's Department further said that it is the common responsibility of all of us to protect the rights of women and take care of their honor and dignity, and the Balochistan government would continue its efforts to achieve this goal.
