NCCIA arrests suspect in social media harassment case

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a suspect from Faisalabad in a social media harassment case on Friday.

According to Director NCCIA Punjab Muhammad Ali Waseem, the case was registered on the complaint of a woman who alleged that private images of her daughter were circulated on social media through a fake account. The complaint further stated that the images were shared with inappropriate content, causing mental distress and social harm to the victim.

He said the victim’s family also reported receiving threats via WhatsApp.

Following the complaint, statements of the complainant and the victim were recorded, while relevant digital evidence was taken into custody for forensic examination.

Investigating Officer Aamir Sultan said the suspect was arrested from Sargodha district following a tip-off. He added that initial analysis of the recovered mobile phone has revealed links to multiple social media accounts suspected to be involved in the activity.

Officials further said that a case has been registered and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals allegedly involved in the case.
