NAWABSHAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) On the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan has emphasized the urgent need to ensure safe, healthy, and inclusive working environments for all, especially for persons with disabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Abid Lashari, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, President NDF Pakistan, stated that workplace safety is a fundamental human right and must be equally accessible to everyone without discrimination. He highlighted that persons with disabilities often face additional risks due to inaccessible infrastructure, lack of reasonable accommodations, and limited awareness among employers.

“Inclusion is more than access — it is protection, respect, and equal participation,” said Mr. Lashari. “We must move beyond commitments and ensure practical implementation of safety standards that address the needs of all workers, including persons with disabilities.

He further stressed that governments, private sector, and development partners must work together to:

Ensure accessible and safe workplaces

Promote inclusive employment policies

Provide occupational safety training for all workers

Strengthen enforcement of disability and labor laws

NDF Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for disability-inclusive policies and practices aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the principle of Leave No One Behind.

Mr. Lashari concluded by urging all stakeholders to take concrete actions to build a culture of safety, dignity, and inclusion in workplaces across Pakistan.
