Need for boosting Pak-Kyrgyz bilateral trade stressed

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th May, 2026) Kyrgyz Deputy Head of Mission/Consul Melis Moldaliev and Honorary Consul Kashif Younis Mehr Tuesday called for enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.

They were talking to business community during their visit to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), while the LCCI President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol. Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh and Convener Ghulam Farid were also present.

Kyrgyz Deputy Head of Mission Melis Moldaliev said that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan need to highlight mutual investment opportunities so that investors from both countries can benefit from each other’s experience and markets. He said both sides can work on joint projects in renewable energy, electricity, and other sectors.

He added that Pakistani companies can invest in Kyrgyzstan, as there are strong opportunities in mining, agriculture, construction, and textiles. He also informed that Kyrgyzstan has established a Trade House in Lahore and plans to open similar centers in other cities in the future.

He urged the Pakistani business community to fully benefit from trade agreements to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier in his welcome address, the LCCI President said that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan enjoy excellent diplomatic relations, but the volume of trade between the two countries is very low and needs to be increased. He said that both countries can enhance trade in pharmaceuticals, leather, sports goods, food products, and information technology.

He further said that tourism between the two countries should also be promoted. He added that Kyrgyzstan can benefit from Pakistan’s strategic geographical location. He emphasized that exchange of trade delegations would further strengthen economic and commercial ties, and both countries can build a strong economic partnership.

The LCCI President also stated that Pakistan played a responsible and positive role in the recent Iran–US tensions, which has further highlighted Pakistan’s importance in promoting global peace.
