New project launched to boost cotton yield in Bahawalpur division

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2026) An important project has been launched in Bahawalpur Division to enhance cotton cultivation and production.

A spokesman for the Punjab Agriculture department said here on Thursday that under this initiative, a special subsidy programme has been introduced to provide subsidy on modern agricultural machinery and facilities to cotton growers.

He stated that under this programme, a subsidy of Rs 50,000 per model farm would be provided for the establishment of Cotton Model Farms (Hub Farms). Additionally, financial assistance of up to Rs 25,000 per unit would be given for modern battery-operated spray pumps for pest control. Furthermore, a subsidy of up to Rs 120,000 per unit would be provided for Chisel Ploughs to ensure better land preparation.

Interested farmers could submit their applications by April 10, 2026. For application submission, eligibility criteria, and terms & conditions, visit the Punjab Agriculture department website (www.agripunjab.gov.pk) and the Cotton Portal (https://cotton.punjab.gov.pk).
