New RPO Dera reviews security, policing standards after assuming charge

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Newly appointed Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera, Ghulam Mubashir Mekan, formally assumed the charge of his office and immediately initiated a comprehensive review of policing and security arrangements across key facilities.

According to police spokesman, the new RPO began his duties with detailed visits aimed at assessing law enforcement performance, security preparedness, and the welfare of police personnel.

During his visit to Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines, a smartly turned-out police contingent presented him a guard of honor. The RPO laid floral wreaths at the martyrs’ memorial and offered prayers for the fallen personnel, paying tribute to their sacrifices for peace and stability in the country.

He conducted a thorough inspection of various facilities, including the anti-drone system, command and control center, mess, barracks, motor transport section, canteen, gym, and security posts.

Issuing directives to the DSP Headquarters, the RPO emphasized prioritizing the welfare of personnel, particularly in terms of accommodation and food. He also directed that all security posts be fully equipped with functional wireless communication systems, night-vision devices, and thermally enabled rifles to ensure operational effectiveness.

Later, the RPO visited Cantt Police Station, where he reviewed the building infrastructure, security arrangements, investigation wing, online FIR system, and overall crime management procedures. He interacted with detainees in the lock-up and personally listened to complaints from citizens present at the station.

On the occasion, he instructed the SP City to ensure prompt delivery of justice and to uphold respectful and dignified behavior towards the public, calling it a fundamental responsibility of the police.

Highlighting the sensitivity of Dera Ismail Khan, the RPO reaffirmed that sustainable peace, eradication of terrorism, public safety, and rule of law remain top priorities.

He further stressed that strengthening police morale, enhancing operational capacity through modern policing methods, expanding intelligence-led operations, and promoting community engagement would form the cornerstone of his policing strategy.
