ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has rescued 12 passengers travelling in a dangerous manner in four milk supply vehicles during a special checking campaign on Motorway M-2 near the Main Toll Plaza Islamabad.
According to an NHMP spokesperson, the action was taken as part of an ongoing nationwide campaign against overloading, unsafe transportation of passengers and overcharging.
During checking, officials found passengers travelling in extremely unsafe conditions inside four milk supply vehicles despite severe weather conditions, posing a serious risk of a major accident.
The spokesperson said the timely action by Motorway Police helped avert a possible tragedy and ensured the safety of passengers.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said checking of passenger and cargo vehicles was continuing across motorways and highways throughout the country, while strict legal action was being taken against vehicles involved in overloading or carrying passengers dangerously.
Such vehicles were not only being stopped from continuing their journey but were also fined on the spot, he added.
The spokesperson said these measures were aimed at ensuring safe travel for citizens and urged the public to report such incidents through the Motorway Police helpline 130.
Inspector General Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry appreciated the professional performance of the team involved in the operation.
