NMU organizes meeting on PET Scan, Cancer Center

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Nishtar Medical University (NMU), Prof. Dr. Mehnaz Khakwani, chaired an important meeting with officials of the Infrastructure Development Authority of Punjab (IDAP) regarding the establishment of a PET Scan and Cancer Center.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scan is a known invasive imagining test that uses a radioactive tracer to visualize and measure cellular metabolic activity in tissues and organs.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the project’s progress, planning, and provision of modern medical facilities. The participants reviewed various aspects of the project and explored ways to ensure its timely completion.

The VC directed the authorities concerned to expedite the work so that the project could be completed at the earliest, enabling patients to benefit from advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities.

She emphasized that provision of modern healthcare services and improvement in the health sector remain the top priorities of the university administration.

Dr Khakwani also reaffirmed the varsity's commitment to ensuring state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, stating that all possible measures would continue to be taken to enhance healthcare services at NMU.
