NMU syndicate approves key administrative, financial, academic decisions

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) The 19th Syndicate meeting of Nishtar Medical University (NMU) approved several important administrative, financial and academic decisions here.

Held under the chair of Provincial Minister for & Medical Education, Khawaja Salman Rafique, The syndicate approved the minutes and implementation report of the 18th meeting, annual maintenance contract of the MRI machine at Nishtar Hospital for the next three years, software licensing and support services agreement of the university, and annual tenders for the purchase of medicines and surgical disposables for FY 2026-27.

Approval was also granted for operational and maintenance contracts of Pak Italian Burn Center and Tertiary Care Hospital Nishtar-II Multan.

The meeting also approved various MD/MS Level-IV programmes, system-based MPhil curriculum, amendments to Semester Examination Regulations 2026, new MCPS programmes, and implementation of semester system and Higher education Commission curriculum for BS Allied Health Sciences programmes.

Additional Secretary Medical Education Dr. Sidra Saleem, NMU VC, Dr Mehnaz Khakwani, Director Budget and Accounts Hammad Al-Rub and other officials attended the meeting, while Punjab Assembly member Malik Wasif Mazhar, VC Mehnaz Khakwani, KEMU VC Dr Mahmood Ayaz, Registrar Prof Fareed Khan and other syndicate members joined through video link.

Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said transparency in financial matters of medical institutions and hospitals had been ensured through e-tendering. He said the Punjab government was working on multi-billion-rupee development projects to improve the healthcare sector in South Punjab and directed authorities to complete the revamping project of Nishtar Hospital on a priority basis.
