Islamabad: J. D. Vance has announced that no final agreement was reached in the latest round of talks, confirming that the U.S. delegation is returning home without a deal after Iran رفضed to accept Washington’s conditions.
Speaking at a press briefing in Islamabad, Vance said the مذاکرات lasted for nearly 21 hours, covering a wide range of critical issues, including Iran’s frozen assets and regional security concerns. He emphasized that the United States participated in the talks in good faith and demonstrated flexibility throughout the process.
“We presented our conditions clearly and engaged constructively, hoping for a positive outcome,” Vance said, adding that despite extensive discussions, Iran chose not to accept the proposed terms.
A key point of contention remained Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Vance stated that the U.S. is seeking firm assurances that Iran will not pursue nuclear weapons in the future. He highlighted concerns over uranium enrichment and the potential for rapid weaponization, stressing that Washington’s red lines on the issue were clearly communicated.
“The good news is that we had meaningful discussions on several concrete matters. The bad news is that no agreement was reached,” he remarked.
Vance also revealed that the delegation remained in constant contact with Donald Trump during the مذاکرات, speaking with him multiple times for guidance. In addition, consultations were held with senior U.S. officials, including national security and economic leadership.
The U.S. Vice President expressed appreciation for Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, praising their efforts in facilitating dialogue and attempting to bridge differences between the U.S. and Iran.
Despite the lack of a breakthrough, Vance described the discussions as constructive and left the door open for future engagement, signaling that diplomatic efforts may continue in the coming weeks.
