ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) The Power Division on Thursday said that no load management was carried out during peak hours on the night of April 29, as improved hydel generation and increased availability of local gas helped stabilize electricity supply across the country.

According to a spokesperson, hydropower generation remained at around 6,000 megawatts during peak hours, against the country’s total installed hydel capacity of 11,500 megawatts.

The spokesperson said that electricity generation witnessed further improvement as more power plants were supplied with indigenous gas, contributing to enhanced system stability.

He added that increased hydel output and additional local gas availability enabled better transmission from the southern region, allowing an additional 100 megawatts to be absorbed into the national grid.

In total, around 500 megawatts of electricity was transmitted from the south.

The spokesperson clarified that economic load management is being carried out only on high-loss feeders under a specific policy and is not related to peak-hour load management.

He further noted that approximately 4,700 megawatts of electricity generation capacity remains unavailable due to non-availability of LNG amid prevailing global conditions.

However, he expressed optimism that with improved LNG supply and increased water releases, the shortfall during night hours would be eliminated in the coming days.
