Notorious bandit killed, accomplices escape after police encounter

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) A record-holding bandit was killed while his accomplices managed to escape after police encounter in the area of Nishatabad police station.

Police spokesman said on Tuesday that a team of Crime Control Division (CCD) carried out an operation in the area of Pul Phattianwala in Nishatabad after receiving credible information about the presence of the outlaws.

The operation was led by Incharge CCD Lyallpur Division Inspector Hassan Siddique Cheema and Incharge CCD Iqbal Division Sub-Inspector Ali Akram Goraya, who had set up a checkpoint along with police personnel.

Upon spotting the police party, the criminals opened indiscriminate fire, triggering a heavy exchange of fire that continued for around 30 minutes.

After the firing subsided, the CCD team found one armed suspect in injured condition and arrested him along with weapons while his accomplices escaped from the scene.

The injured accused was shifted to hospital, but in vain as he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The police identified the deceased as Kashif alias Kashi, resident of Chak 221/R-B, who was allegedly involved in around 50 cases of theft, robbery and highway crime and was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies.

The body was moved to mortuary for postmortem while raids are being conducted to arrest the fleeing accomplices, spokesman added.
