Notorious dacoit Gora Umrani surrenders in katcha area operation

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) Punjab Police have achieved a significant breakthrough during an ongoing intelligence-based operation in the katcha area of Rahim Yar Khan, as notorious dacoit Gora Umrani, carrying a head money of Rs 10 million, surrendered along with his accomplice Farooq Umrani and handed themselves over to law enforcement.

According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, sustained police pressure and coordinated intelligence-led operations forced the criminals to surrender. The Government of Punjab had fixed a reward of Rs 10 million for the arrest of Gora Umrani, dead or alive. Following the surrender, both individuals were taken into custody and shifted for legal proceedings.

DPO Rahim Yar Khan Irfan Ali Samo said that the development reflects the success of joint efforts by Punjab Police and Sindh Police in restoring law and order in the riverine belt. He said the operation against criminal elements in the katcha area would continue without any interruption until complete elimination of dacoit networks.

Inspector General of Punjab Police Abdul Kareem appreciated the performance of the Rahim Yar Khan police team for achieving the surrender of high-profile criminals. He reiterated that operations against organized crime and dacoit gangs across Punjab would be further intensified to ensure lasting peace in the region.
