Nowshera encounter leaves cop martyred, attacker killed

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) A police official was martyred and an armed attacker was killed during a fierce exchange of fire between police and suspected militants in Nowshera district on Wednesday.

According to a police spokesperson, the incident took place in the Ziarat Kaka Sahib area, where police came under attack. During the intense gun battle, Constable Riwayat Shah embraced martyrdom.

Police retaliated swiftly, killing one of the attackers at the scene. Investigations are underway to determine the identities of other suspects and the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Following the incident, security was placed on high alert across the area and a heavy police contingent was deployed to the site.

The body of the martyred cop was shifted to a hospital, while law enforcement agencies launched a search and clearance operation in the vicinity.
