CHICHAWATNI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) The authorities here on Wednesday inspected drainage operations across the city following recent rainfall, as efforts continue to prevent urban flooding and disruption.
Deputy Commissioner, Sahiwal, Samia Ullah Farooq, accompanied by the Managing Director, WASA, Tanveer Qaiser, visited several areas during the rain to review water drainage arrangements.
They examined low-lying neighbourhoods, major roads and key intersections, assessing ongoing drainage work, the availability of machinery and the performance of field staff.
The Officials instructed teams on site to utilize all available resources to ensure the swift removal of rainwater, in order to maintain the flow of traffic and minimize inconvenience to the residents.
They also emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of the drainage process and directed emergency response teams to remain on high alert to deal with any developing situation.
During a briefing, the WASA managing director said special teams had been deployed across the city and that machinery was fully operational. Additional staff had also been stationed at critical points to ensure timely drainage, he added.
The deputy commissioner further directed that public complaints be addressed promptly, with field staff remaining active at all times to respond quickly to any issues.
