HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) A joint team of officers of various government departments inspected brick kilns here on Friday to check compliance with the laws barring child and bonded labours.Assistant Director Social Welfare Department Shiza Fatima, Assistant Director Labour Kamal Khuwaja and the officers of Women Development Department and Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI) besides labour union representing kiln workers were part of the team.
An official apprised that the visit was carried out to identify and eliminate instances of bonded labour, child labour, and human trafficking through coordinated efforts of all relevant departments.
He added that during the inspection, brick kiln owners were sensitized regarding mandatory compliance with labour laws, social security regulations, and child protection frameworks.
According to him, the officers clearly warned against employing children under the age of 14 and engaging in any form of bonded labour, with strict legal action to be taken in case of violations.
Furthermore, kiln owners were instructed to ensure registration of their workers with SESSI and EOBI to enable them to access healthcare and other social protection benefits provided under these institutions, he told.
