One drug suspect arrested in injured condition after encounter in Chiniot

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) One alleged drug dealer was arrested in an injured condition while two of his accomplices managed to escape during an encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) near Babu Rai village on the Lahore-Sargodha Road bypass, officials said on Tuesday.

According to CCD officials, the incident occurred when a police team intercepted suspects involved in narcotics trafficking. On seeing the law enforcement personnel, the accused allegedly opened fire, triggering an exchange in which one suspect was overpowered and taken into custody in injured condition, while two others fled the scene under cover of fire.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Amanullah. Officials stated that he was allegedly wounded during firing and was also implicated in multiple drug-related cases. Police recovered weapons from his possession following the operation.

CCD officials further said that the accused is a nominated suspect in at least ten drug trafficking cases.

A search operation has been launched to trace and arrest the fleeing accomplices, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
