Over 1,100 policemen deployed at churches for Sunday prayers security

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) The police placed churches across the district on high alert and deployed more than 1,100 police officers and personnel to ensure foolproof security for the Christian community's Sunday worship services and prayer gatherings.

Police spokesman Tariq Jatt said that acting on the directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain, comprehensive security arrangements were enforced at all churches to maintain peaceful environment and safeguard worshippers during religious activities.

He said that more than 1,100 police officers and officials were assigned security duties at churches across the district.

Station House Officers (SHOs) personally supervised security deployments and inspected arrangements to ensure strict implementation of security protocols, he added.

He said that police closely monitored sensitive locations through Safe City cameras and CCTV surveillance systems. Comprehensive screening of worshippers and visitors was carried out through walk-through gates and metal detectors before entry into church premises, he added.

He said that rooftop deployment was arranged at church buildings while special patrolling by the Elite Force and Dolphin Force continued throughout the day in and around places of worship.

He said that all available resources had been utilized to provide secure environment for the Christian community and prevent any untoward incident during religious congregations.

Quoting the CPO, he said that the protection of life and property of Christian citizens is top priority for Faisalabad police. The police officers and personnel remained fully alert and actively engaged to ensure complete peace and order during worship services and prayer ceremonies, he added.

Meanwhile, CPO Tanveer Hussain emphasized that Faisalabad police was committed to maintain interfaith harmony and provide safe atmosphere for all communities to perform their religious obligations without fear or disruption.

The enhanced security measures remained in place throughout the district as part of the police department's ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of worshippers and uphold law and order during religious gatherings, he added.
