LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) Punjab Police resolved over 25,000 public complaints through the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Complaint Center 1787 during the current year, with an upgraded monitoring system ensuring prompt redressal, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem said that complaints lodged by citizens were being addressed within the stipulated timeline in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). He added that the monitoring system had been further strengthened to enhance the efficiency of the 1787 Complaint Center.
The IGP said that district police officers (DPOs) were personally overseeing complaints received through the system to ensure timely resolution.
According to the spokesperson, significant progress had been made in resolving complaints of various categories, including 12,137 related to registration of cases and 6,277 concerning slow investigation. Additionally, 1,820 complaints regarding police services and over 5,000 departmental and other complaints had been resolved.
He further said that 1,354 complaints related to arrest of accused, 2,303 concerning recovery matters and 1,265 regarding faulty investigations had been addressed. Moreover, 667 complaints about cancellation of false cases and 421 related to change of investigation had also been resolved.
The IGP urged citizens to contact the 1787 Complaint Center without hesitation in case of any complaint against police officials.
