More than 300,000 children have been vaccinated during the first two days of the ongoing anti-polio campaign in Rawalpindi district, achieving 29% of the overall target, health authorities informed APP on Wednesday

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) More than 300,000 children have been vaccinated during the first two days of the ongoing anti-polio campaign in Rawalpindi district, achieving 29% of the overall target, health authorities informed APP on Wednesday.

According to the details, the campaign has so far reached over 300,000 children out of the total target of 1,057,756, while field teams achieved 92% household coverage by visiting 228,978 homes against the target of 249,441.

District Health Officer, Dr Jawad Zahid, to a question infomred thatt the Still-Missed Children (SMC) rate remained low at 8 % for which teams are trying to rwach

Rawalpindi Rural led the campaign by vaccinating 80,856 children, achieving 30% coverage and 91% household reach, followed by Rawalpindi City where 52,786 children were administered polio drops, reaching 28% coverage.

Similarly, Rawalpindi Cantonment and Taxila reported strong progress, vaccinating 44,869 and 40,260 children respectively, both maintaining 27% coverage and over 90% household access.

Gujar Khan also showed steady performance, vaccinating 39,375 children to reach 30% coverage, with 93% household compliance and a low SMC rate of 6 %.

Kotli Sattian, Murree and Kallar Syedan recorded the highest household coverage at 95%. Kallar Syedan vaccinated 13,179 children while Kahuta reached 12,547 children, both achieving 31% coverage. Murree vaccinated 12,033 children, while Kotli Sattian covered 6,630 children with the lowest SMC rate of 3 %.
