LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd May, 2026) As many as 5,107 streets have been completed under Phase-II of the Lahore Development Program (LDP),officials said on Sunday,as authorities underscored strict adherence to quality standards and a zero-tolerance policy against the use of substandard material.
The progress was reviewed in a meeting of the LDP chaired by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ejaz. Officials from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA),Lahore Development Authority (LDA), National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK), the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance) and other relevant departments attended the meeting.
During the briefing, it was informed that development works were underway in previously neglected localities under the program.
The DC directed that durable interlocking tiles be laid in streets in accordance with prescribed standards,while sewerage and water supply schemes should be executed simultaneously to avoid repeated digging and inconvenience to residents.
Emphasizing public facilitation and safety,Muhammad Ali Ejaz instructed all departments to strictly follow standard operating procedures during execution of development works.
He noted that WASA and other civic bodies were working in close coordination to ensure timely completion of projects.
He said transparency and quality remained the cornerstone of the development initiative,adding that no compromise would be made on the provision of durable and citizen-friendly infrastructure.
