Punjab Police have arrested more than 58,964 proclaimed offenders (POs) alongside over 20,000 court absconders and 11,000 habitual criminals so far during an ongoing province-wide crackdown this year
LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Punjab Police have arrested more than 58,964 proclaimed offenders (POs) alongside over 20,000 court absconders and 11,000 habitual criminals so far during an ongoing province-wide crackdown this year.
A spokesperson said on Monday that as many as 58,964 POs have been arrested, including 16,294 from Category A and 42,670 from Category B. Similarly, 20,921 court absconders have been apprehended, comprising 3,017 from Category A and 17,904 from Category B.
The spokesperson further said that 11,606 habitual criminals were also taken into custody during the crackdown, including 4,597 from Category A and 7,009 from Category B.
In addition, 37 dangerous POs wanted in serious cases and residing abroad were arrested and brought back to Pakistan, terming it a significant achievement of Punjab Police.
In Lahore, police arrested 11,315 POs, 6,758 court absconders and 2,782 habitual criminals during the same period.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar appreciated the performance of police teams for their effective action against criminal elements and directed that the crackdown should be further intensified across the province.
