Over Rs 9m fine imposed on profiteers during Ramazan

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2026) The district administration conducted 60,750 inspections and imposed over Rs 9.26 million fine during crackdown on profiteering in Multan.

According to official data, 17 cases were registered, 45 persons arrested and 35 shops sealed for violating government price lists during operations conducted from February 19 to March 10, 2026.

The actions were taken on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddique to ensure availability of essential commodities at official rates.

Price control magistrates carried out extensive checks in markets and bazaars across the district and took strict action against traders involved in overcharging.

During the campaign, shopkeepers found violating official price lists were fined Rs9,260,700 collectively, while several outlets were sealed.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddique said providing relief to citizens in accordance with Punjab government directives remained the administration’s top priority.

He directed price control magistrates to continue strict monitoring in markets and take indiscriminate action against profiteers.

He also urged citizens to report cases of overcharging to the authorities so that immediate action could be taken.
