PA panel visits ET&NC Dept warehouse

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) Members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Standing Committee on Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department visited the Provincial Warehouse of the Excise Department in Peshawar on Tuesday where they were briefed about the details of the warehouse, the procedure for confiscating vehicles and the damage caused by the fire in the warehouse.

The members of the committee included MPAs Abdul Muneem Khan, Malik Tariq Awan, Ms. Afshan Hussain and Ms. Shazia Tehmash, led by MPA Afshan Hussain, while Director General Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Khan briefed them about the institution.

Officers from the Excise Department, Provincial Assembly and other concerned departments were also present on the occasion.

The members of the assembly were briefed about the warehouse staff, available facilities and challenges, vehicle seizure procedures and statistics, and the damage caused by fires in the warehouse in the past.

During the visit, the members also inspected the seized vehicles present in the warehouse and its building.

On this occasion, the members of the assembly and the committee, after reviewing all the facts, agreed that for the proper management and administration of the financial affairs of the warehouse staff, it needs to be provided with its own DDO code, budget and the post of warehouse in-charge so that the affairs of this institution can be run smoothly without any hindrance.

They said that in the short term, there is a need to secure the wires to avoid the possibility of a possible fire from the power line along with the warehouse so that such an unfortunate incident can never happen again in the current situation.

The committee members said that in order to make the warehouse safe from all aspects in the future, it should be established on the land owned by the Peshawar Development Authority in Regi Lalmah or any other alternative nearby and suitable government land.

They said that the committee members will present their recommendations in this regard to the chairman committee, which will be sent to the relevant forum for possible implementation.
