PAC observes Earth Hour with candle-lighting activity

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Mar, 2026) The Punjab Council of the Arts (PCA) Faisalabad Division observed World Earth Hour by switching off lights and organising a candle-lighting activity to promote environmental awareness.

A spokesman for local administration said here on Sunday that the lights of Arts Council were turned off for one hour in connection with the global Earth Hour campaign.

During the activity, the children held posters in their hands and lit candles to convey the message that unity and awareness could be spread even without electricity, he added.

He said that purpose of observing Earth Hour was to create awareness among the people about environmental protection in addition to encourage collective efforts for safeguarding the planet.

Every year, unnecessary lights are switched off for one hour during the campaign to highlight the importance of energy conservation and an eco-friendly lifestyle. The unique activity was widely appreciated by the public, he added.

Meanwhile, Director Punjab Council of Arts Faisalabad Division Maqbool Ahmed Malik said that the initiative would serve as a practical lesson for the young generation.

Such activities helped create a sense of responsibility among youth and would play an important role in making the new generation more environmentally conscious, he added.
