PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Senior Vice President Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) and Executive Member Sarhadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi has termed the decision of the Federal government to allow other countries to trade through Pakistan to Iran and various corridor routes as a path to prosperity and stability.
In a press statement issued here on Monday, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, who is also the President of Frontier Customs Agents Association (FCAA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said this development is a welcome step taken in the path of regional trade and connectivity.
Zia said the Ministry of Commerce has issued a notification of the Goods Transit Order through Pakistan. The order will come into effect immediately and apply to the transportation of goods not allowed in transit from any third country, which will be delivered to any place in Iran via Pakistan.
This permission has been given under the agreement between Pakistan and Iran, signed between the governments of Pakistan and Iran, for the international transport of passengers and goods by road.
The movement of goods will be as per the procedure laid down by the FBR.
This initiative will give a new impetus to economic connectivity in the region and reduce the cost of transportation through land routes, save time, while it will increase business activities, create new employment opportunities, and directly benefit the people of the region.
Interconnection between the countries of the region and trade through land routes is not only in the interest of Pakistan but also in the interest of the people of all the concerned countries.
When countries connect with each other, interdependence increases, economic development accelerates the foundation of peace is strengthened. Pakistan has always prioritized regional connectivity.
This decision is a practical manifestation of this vision. It is hoped that this initiative will promote trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, as well as Central Asia and the Gulf countries.
The path to prosperity and stability of the region lies through mutual trade and connectivity. Such initiatives will prove helpful in the welfare of the people of the entire region.
