Pak-China friendship celebrations begin at IUB

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) has launched grand celebrations to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The celebrations are being organized in accordance with the directions of the government of Punjab to highlight the historic friendship and strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries.

The celebrations began with a flag-hoisting ceremony at Abbasia Campus, where the national flags of Pakistan and China were hoisted. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran, Registrar Muhammad Shaji ur Rehman, faculty members, officers and students participated in the ceremony and recited the national anthems of both countries.

Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran said that Pakistan-China friendship is evergreen and has stood the test of time.

The vice chancellor highlighted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a flagship project reflecting the strong strategic partnership between the two nations.

The Abbasia Campus building has also been decorated with red and green lights along with the national flags of Pakistan and China to mark the occasion.

A special committee has been constituted to organize and supervise the celebrations. The committee includes Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences; Prof. Dr. Syed Aamir Sohail, Dean Faculty of Arts and Languages; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, Director ORIC; Dr. Farhana Altaf Qureshi, Principal University College of Art and Design; Dr. Shahzad Ahmed Khalid, Director Press, Media and Public Relations; Dr. Adnan Bukhari, Additional Director Students Affairs; Dr. Abid Shahzad, Director International Linkages and Convener; Dr. Muhammad Khalid Sheikh, Executive Secretary to the Vice Chancellor; and Arshad Bhatti, Secretary.

The celebrations will continue over the coming days with various academic, cultural and student engagement activities aimed at promoting awareness about the longstanding friendship, cooperation and mutual trust between Pakistan and China.
