MOSCOW, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, hosted an official dinner at the Embassy of Pakistan in Moscow to honor South and Southeast Asian journalists participating in a fellowship program organized by Sputnik news Agency with support from the Gorchakov Fund.

The gathering brought together young media professionals from across South Asia, officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Information in Islamabad, representatives of prominent Moscow-based media houses, and officials of the Gorchakov Fund. Senior diplomats from the Embassy of Pakistan also joined the event, underscoring its diplomatic significance.

Addressing the attendees, Ambassador Tirmizi welcomed the fellows and thanked Sputnik News Agency and the Gorchakov Fund for creating a platform that strengthens professional ties between regional journalists and Russian media institutions.

“Journalists are the most important segment of society and have strong connections with diplomats,” the Ambassador said. “You shape narratives, build bridges between nations, and help people understand each other. Pakistan’s diplomacy is active and open, and this Embassy will always remain open for such exchanges.”

He noted that programs like the Sputnik-Gorchakov fellowship help young reporters gain firsthand exposure to international media practices while fostering people-to-people contact.

The Ambassador also encouraged participants to use their platforms to highlight shared challenges and opportunities across Eurasia and South Asia.

Officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Information who accompanied the delegation expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s hospitality and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to supporting media exchanges that promote regional understanding.

Representatives of the Gorchakov Fund and Sputnik News Agency thanked the Ambassador for the reception, calling it a “fruitful” opportunity for informal dialogue between journalists, diplomats, and media executives in Moscow.

The evening concluded with traditional Pakistani cuisine, which was warmly received by the guests. Attendees praised both the food and the collegial atmosphere, noting that such events deepen informal networks that complement official diplomatic channels.

The fellowship program aims to build capacity among young journalists from South Asia by providing training, newsroom exposure, and interaction with Russian media professionals. This week’s dinner marked one of several engagements planned for the visiting delegation during their stay in Moscow.

The Embassy of Pakistan said it will continue to facilitate similar initiatives that connect media, academia, and civil society as part of its broader public diplomacy efforts in Russia.
