Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal has launched a nationwide initiative titled “Turning Silence to Sound” aimed at providing free treatment and rehabilitation for hearing-impaired children across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir

MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal has launched a nationwide initiative titled “Turning Silence to Sound” aimed at providing free treatment and rehabilitation for hearing-impaired children across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Director General Dr. Zeeshan Danish announced the program during a media briefing after visiting a local non-governmental organization office in Mirpur. He said the project would soon be extended to Azad Jammu and Kashmir through a formal memorandum of understanding with a partner NGO to ensure free medical support for affected children.

He stated that the rehabilitation initiative is designed to help children overcome hearing disabilities and integrate into society as productive citizens. He added that Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal has already spent around 2.5 billion rupees on similar treatment programs across the country.

Dr. Danish further said that under broader welfare schemes, financial assistance of up to 1.5 million rupees is being provided for medical treatment of children from low-income families, while scholarships, sewing machines for women empowerment, and free wheelchairs for persons with disabilities are also being distributed. He added that drug rehabilitation centers are also being planned to address substance abuse among youth.

During his visit, he was briefed on the activities of a women’s rehabilitation and skills training center run by the NGO, where he was informed about the production and free distribution of cloth shopping bags to discourage plastic use. He was also told about ongoing environmental efforts, including tree plantation campaigns that have resulted in the distribution of millions of saplings over recent years.
