Canadian FM Anita Anand appreicates Pakistan efforts for US-Iran war ceasefire

OTTAWA: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 7th, 2026) Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Tuesday held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, during which both leaders discussed the current situation in the middle East and related diplomatic developments.

Taking to social media platform X, Anita Anand said that Ishaq Dar briefed her on the progress of ongoing ceasefire negotiations. She expressed Canada’s support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at de-escalation and peace in the region.

The Canadian foreign minister stressed the importance of protecting civilian lives and ensuring the safety of essential infrastructure, urging all parties to act responsibly amid the evolving situation.

She also appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating and advancing dialogue during a sensitive period, noting that Canada values its bilateral relationship with Pakistan.

The both sides agreed to remain in close contact and to continue working together on shared priorities, including strengthening economic cooperation and expanding people-to-people exchanges.
