Pakistan cements its identity as center of peace: Maulana Azad

SAHIWAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad said here Wednesday, the historic victory against much larger enemy in the Maarka-e-Haq silencing aggressor last year and the ongoing facilitation for US-Iran talks has cemented Pakistan's position as the center of peace in the world.

The eminent religious scholar was addressing an Ulema conference to commemorate Maarka-e-Haq, drawing religious scholars from all schools of thought, officials, and a large number of participants to express unity and solidarity with the country’s armed forces.

The chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee said that the great victory in the “Battle of Truth” was a special blessing from Almighty Allah.

Maulana Azad heaped praise on leadership of Field Marshal, Chief of Defence Forces General Syed Asim Munir, stating that under his dynamic command, the armed forces defeated a much larger enemy force.

He alleged that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had attempted to exert pressure on Pakistan by staging a “false drama” in Pahalgam, but added that the nefarious designs of the enemy were thwarted.

He reiterated that Pakistan desires peace but is fully capable of defending itself if war is imposed.

Maulana Azad further stated that Pakistan has emerged as a center of peace in the world and appreciated efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the United States and Iran.

He paid tribute to the mothers and children of martyrs, emphasizing that the prayers of the nation played a vital role in the country’s success.

He urged religious scholars to play their role in promoting unity and strengthening national cohesion,

adding that the armed forces and security institutions are a source of pride for the nation. He called upon the public to celebrate the success of the Maaraka-e-Haq in every street and neighborhood.

Highlighting national unity, he said that stability of Pakistan is a fundamental objective and patriotism is part of faith. He remarked that Sahiwal has always been a symbol of peace and stressed the need for collective efforts to demonstrate unity and solidarity across the country.

He also commended Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her tireless efforts, particularly her mission to make Punjab free from narcotics, urging collective action to achieve this goal.

Participants at the conference joined hands to express solidarity with the armed forces and chanted slogans in their support.

The conference was also addressed by Commissioner Dr Asif Tufail, and RPO Rana Ayaz Saleem. Special prayers were offered at the conclusion of the event for national security, stability, and unity.
