ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) The Subh-e-Nau ITF Pakistan Junior International Tennis Championship (Leg-II) gathered momentum on Wednesday at the PTF Tennis Complex, with exciting quarterfinal clashes showcasing emerging talent from across the globe.
Organized under the auspices of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, the prestigious junior event has attracted 41 players—22 boys and 19 girls—from 15 countries, including Pakistan, China, Japan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Australia, and the Netherlands, reflecting the tournament’s growing international stature.
In the boys’ singles quarterfinals, Pakistan’s Mikaeel Ali Baif delivered a strong performance to defeat China’s Heran Zhang in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(3). Sri Lanka’s Ganuka Fernando outclassed Pakistan’s Ahtesham Humayun 6-2, 6-3, while Abubakar Talha of Pakistan secured a hard-fought win over Hong Kong’s Jayden Park, 6-3, 7-5. The match between Amir Mazari and Hamza Roman remained incomplete at 3-3.
The girls’ singles category saw dominant performances from Chinese players, with Yijiia Wang, Zihan Feng, and Zhiyu Zhou all advancing to the semifinals with convincing victories.
Russia’s Varvara Rubtsova also progressed after overcoming China’s Ai Teng in a three-set encounter.
In boys’ doubles action, Pakistan’s Zohaib Afzal Malik and M. Yahya registered an impressive win over compatriots Amir Mazari and Ho Wan Yeung. Meanwhile, the pair of Mikaeel Ali Baig and Ahtesham Humayun kept Pakistan’s hopes alive with a solid straight-sets victory against their Chinese opponents.
In the girls’ doubles quarterfinals, top performances were recorded by teams from China, Russia-Kazakhstan, and Japan-Thailand combinations, all advancing to the next stage with commanding wins.
The championship, sponsored by Bank Alfalah, Serena Hotel Islamabad, MRI Energies, Arif Habib Group, and Subh-e-Nau, continues to provide a vital platform for young players to gain international exposure.
Tournament Director Shahida Kausar Farooq, Chairperson of Subh-e-Nau, is overseeing the event.
The matches will resume on Thursday at 10:00 AM, with semifinal spots on the line as the competition heads into a decisive phase.
