FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and former state minister Senator Chaudhary Abid Sher Ali said that Pakistan has received unprecedented global recognition for its peace diplomacy and the national leadership deserves to be nominated for the Nobel Peace prize.
Talking to media persons during his visit to Faisalabad Press Club (FPC), he said that the recent international respect, prestige and diplomatic importance achieved by Pakistan on the global stage were the result of strenuous efforts and effective policies of the country’s leadership, which had projected Pakistan as a responsible and dignified state.
He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar deserved appreciation for this historic achievement and they should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Abid Sher Ali said that in the past, some global powers particularly India had attempted to isolate Pakistan diplomatically, but the situation had now completely changed, with those elements themselves facing isolation while Pakistan had emerged as a responsible, peace-loving and proactive diplomatic actor.
He said that the international community had acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s positive and balanced role in recent peace negotiations between Iran and United States.
The international delegations visiting Pakistan during these engagements witnessed its peaceful image, cultural richness and hospitality, which further improved the country’s global perception, he added.
He said that Prime Minister, deputy prime minister and military leadership had worked tirelessly to make ceasefire negotiations viable, due to which Pakistan was now being recognized globally as a responsible, peace-friendly country and a reliable mediator.
Referring to regional cooperation, he said that Pakistan had been entrusted with special responsibilities alongside Saudi Arabia, which was a matter of pride for the nation. The country had attained a dignified global standing by the grace of Allah Almighty, for which the entire nation was grateful, he added.
He said that due to Pakistan’s positive global role, prominent international personalities were showing interest in visiting the country, adding that President Donald Trump had also expressed a desire to visit Pakistan, reflecting the improving global image of the country.
Commenting on the economic situation, Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali said that although Pakistan was currently facing certain economic challenges, yet these would be resolved soon due to effective government policies and timely measures.
He said that in the past Pakistan was often associated with terrorism, but today it was being recognized for peace, which was a major diplomatic success.
Safely hosting and facilitating visits of senior international leadership including the US vice president and Iranian leadership to Islamabad demonstrated Pakistan’s high-level security, administrative capability and diplomatic success, which further strengthened its global credibility, he added.
Responding to a question about load-shedding, he stressed the need for improving the management of nine power distribution companies and said that comprehensive reforms by taking into account furnace oil usage, wartime impacts, line losses and administrative issues could significantly improve the energy sector.
On the establishment of a journalists’ colony in Faisalabad, he said that like other districts, journalists in Faisalabad also deserved basic facilities.
He urged all political leadership of the city to unite on a single platform and take practical steps in consultation with journalists to resolve the issue.
He said that Faisalabad, being the second largest industrial city of Punjab, urgently required a journalists’ colony and a high court bench, calling for joint efforts by all political and social stakeholders to fulfill these longstanding demands.
Replying to another query, he said that major political parties were demonstrating unity with the government on national issues which was a positive sign for stability.
About urban transport, he said the metro bus project in Faisalabad would surely be completed and it would not be compromised for political reasons.
He said that Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz had promised not only completion of the metro bus project but also the addition of 100 buses to provide affordable and quality transport facilities to students, laborers and the general public.
He further said that beautification work of the historic Clock Tower Faisalabad and its surrounding eight bazaars was progressing rapidly and this project would be completed soon for enhancing historical significance of the city.
Abid Sher Ali said that China and Saudi Arabia were Pakistan’s longstanding and reliable friends, who had always supported the country in difficult times and extended full cooperation in economic and diplomatic fields.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening these friendly ties.
