ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) Former Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, China, and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Sardar Masood Khan, said here Friday that Pakistan had emerged as a credible regional power, a trusted diplomatic mediator, and a symbol of resilience following the success of Marqa-e-Haq and its subsequent diplomatic achievements.
He expressed these views while addressing students and faculty members at the National University of Modern Languages. The event was attended by Rector Major General Shahid Mahmood Kayani, Director General Brigadier Mahmood Ali Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Dr Riaz Shah, faculty members, and a large number of students.
Sardar Masood Khan paid tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the country during the conflict of May 2025, stating that Pakistan emerged triumphant against all odds and disproved the perception that it was a weak or divided state.
He remarked that Marka-e-Haq became a watershed moment in the military and diplomatic history of South Asia, demonstrating Pakistan’s credible deterrence, coordinated military capability, technological strength, and national unity.
He praised Pakistan’s media for responsibly countering misinformation and fake narratives during the conflict, stating that Pakistani journalists and communication platforms adhered to facts and earned international credibility.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He further said that Pakistan’s diplomats effectively mobilised international support and strengthened relations with major global powers and regional states.
Highlighting Pakistan’s growing international stature, Sardar Masood Khan stated that Pakistan today enjoyed the trust of both Washington and Tehran and was playing the role of a lead mediator in the ongoing tensions.
He termed this diplomatic role a direct dividend of Marka-e-Haq, adding that Pakistan had successfully built regional consensus by engaging countries including China, Türkiye, Egypt, Qatar, Oman, Russia, and European states.
Speaking to the youth, he urged students to prepare themselves for leadership roles by investing in education, innovation, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, cyber capabilities, and software engineering.
He appreciated the efforts of National University of Modern Languages in modern education and technological advancement, describing the institution as a hub of national integration and international communication.
Sardar Masood Khan also stressed the importance of economic independence, indigenous technological development, and strategic self-reliance. He urged the younger generation to work towards making Pakistan one of the world’s strongest economies by 2047 and called upon the nation to maintain unity, confidence, and vigilance in the face of evolving regional challenges.
