Pakistan pitches investment to Chinese firms

Pakistan's Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi has highlighted the country's investment-friendly policies and vast business opportunities while addressing the China (Gansu)-Pakistan Industry Promotion and Economic & Trade Matchmaking Conference in Lanzhou.

The conference, jointly hosted by the People's Government of Gansu Province and the Embassy of Pakistan in China, brought together over 120 participants, including government officials, business leaders, industry representatives and entrepreneurs from both countries. Addressing the participants, Hashmi briefed them on Pakistan's evolving investment policy landscape and the opportunities available in 21 priority sectors. He also highlighted the efforts of the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and its four Consulates General in China to facilitate and mobilise Chinese investment in Pakistan.

The conference featured thematic presentations by senior officials of the Gansu Provincial Government, representatives of Chinese enterprises, the Embassy of Pakistan, Pakistani companies and financial institutions. An interactive session and business matchmaking meetings were also held to promote partnerships and strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Meanwhile, Hashmi inaugurated the Pakistan National Pavilion at the 32nd China Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair, where Pakistan is participating as the Guest Country of Honour.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Li Peixing, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Gansu Provincial People's Congress, senior Chinese government officials, business leaders and media representatives. Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador highlighted Pakistan's trade and investment potential and encouraged Chinese enterprises to explore opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, minerals, information technology, renewable energy and tourism.

The Pakistan National Pavilion features 18 Pakistani enterprises displaying a wide range of products, including furniture, gemstones and jade, jewellery, leather goods, textiles and handicrafts. The pavilion attracted significant interest from visitors and members of the Chinese business community, reflecting the growing recognition of Pakistani products and strengthening prospects for enhanced trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
