Pakistan Railways carries nearly 40mln passengers in FY2025

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Pakistan Railways transported 39.7 million passengers during FY2024-25, according to the Economic Survey 2025-26.

The survey showed that passenger traffic increased from 38.62 million passengers in FY2023-24 to 39.7 million in FY2024-25.

Passenger numbers had declined sharply during the COVID-19 period, falling to 28.

4 million in FY2020-21, but subsequently recovered to 35.7 million in FY2021-22, 35.4 million in FY2022-23 and 38.62 million in FY2023-24.

During July-March FY2025-26, Pakistan Railways carried 24.16 million passengers.

The survey highlighted the continued recovery of passenger services as railways remained an important mode of affordable transportation across the country.
