LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) The Pakistan Railways has taken a significant step towards modernization by establishing a Digital Central Control Office, which will play a key role in making the railway system safer, more efficient, and fully integrated.

According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways on Friday, the modern facility has been set up under the RAIN (Railway Advanced Infrastructure Network) project.

The state-of-the-art control room will enable real-time monitoring of railway operations across the country, promoting data-driven decision-making and a more coordinated system. Through this facility, continuous oversight of passenger train movements, freight operations, and logistics systems will be ensured.

The system will also provide live monitoring of platforms through safe and smart railway stations, centralized control of the train dispatch system, comprehensive train surveillance, and real-time tracking of locomotives and other railway assets.

Officials said the central control hub is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency, strengthen passenger safety and security, and improve train punctuality as well as overall service quality.

Moreover, effective monitoring of infrastructure and assets will help ensure better utilization of resources.

The establishment of the Digital Central Control Office reflects Pakistan Railways’ commitment to adopting modern technology, ensuring transparency, and achieving higher service standards in line with the vision of Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.
