Pakistan Railways grants 50% travel concession to wives of journalists

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) Pakistan Railways has provided a relief to families of journalists by granting 50 percent concession on train travel for wives of eligible media professionals, the spokesman said here on Saturday.

Following approval from Senior General Manager Pakistan Railways, an official notification has been issued confirming the discount.

Under new facility, wives of working journalists will be able to avail a 50 percent reduction on fares for up to ten single journeys.

The concession applies across all trains and classes, with the exception of certain premium services.

Specifically, discount will not be available on Green Line, Pak business Express or Shah Hussain Express.

To benefit from concession, passengers will need to present necessary supporting documents at time of booking or travel. This decision fulfils a long-standing demand from journalistic community, who had been pressing railway authorities for such family-friendly travel concessions.

The move is expected to ease financial burden on media professionals and their families when using Pakistan’s rail network.
