Pakistan reach Asian Doubles Squash Championship final after defeating Malaysia

SARAWAK: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM-June 20th, 2026) Pakistan’s Team One on Saturday advanced to the final of the third Asian Doubles Squash Championship after registering a convincing victory over hosts Malaysia in the semi-final.

The semi-final was played in Sarawak, Malaysia, where World Under-23 champion Noor Zaman and former national champion Nasir Iqbal defeated the Malaysian pair in straight sets, winning 2-0 in a 25-minute encounter.

Pakistan made a strong start, taking the opening game 11-8 before maintaining dominance in the second game to secure an 11-5 win and book their place in the final.

The pair will now compete for the championship title, after Pakistan finished with a silver medal in last year’s edition.

In another fixture, Pakistan Team Two, consisting of former world junior champion Muhammad Hamza Khan and international player Muhammad Asim Khan, secured fifth position in the tournament. They defeated Singapore 2-0 in a match that lasted just 13 minutes.

Team officials said the squad is being managed by retired Air Commodore Aamir Nawaz, while former international player Fahim Gul is serving as coach.
