'Pakistan's desirous of peace, dialogue to settle issues', says governor Punjab

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Mar, 2026) Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that Pakistan is desirous of peace and believes in dialogue instead of war to settle disputes, adding that Pakistan’s efforts to end global tension are commendable.

"The Muslim Ummah needs to stand united and show solidarity," he said while talking to the mediamen outside the residence of PPP Faisalabad (Women Wing) President Rukhsana Qamar.

Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan had visited the residence of Rukhsana Qamar to condole with her the sad demise of her son. The Punjab Governor prayed that may Allah Almighty grant the deceased a place in His mercy and give courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with patience and fortitude.

Saradar Saleem Haider also conveyed the message of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, adding that the PPP leadership stands in solidarity with the family during this difficult time.

Replying to the queries, he said that Pakistan stands with honour and dignity today at the global level.

He said that the visit of foreign ministers of 3 Islamic countries to Pakistan to reduce tensions in the region is a matter of pride for the country and the nation.

The Punjab Governor said that the efforts of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir have brought stability to the country. He congratulated all the coalition leadership including Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for their national services.

The Governor said that Pakistan is currently playing the role of mediator for peace in the region. He said that Pakistan wants peace and believes in negotiations instead of war. Sardar said that ending the loss and destruction of innocent human lives is the need of the hour. He said that the Muslim Ummah should show unity and solidarity and raise its voice on this issue. He said that after the end of the war situation, investment opportunities are expected to increase in Pakistan.

The Governor Punjab said that providing a conducive environment for foreign investors is indispensable for the development of the country's economy.

In response to a question, he said that the assembly's term is five years, and there's no basis to the rumors about extending it to ten years. He added that timely elections in a democratic system are the only guarantee of the country's stability.
