Pakistan’s Envoy to OIC meets secretary general at OIC Secretariat

The Permanent Representative of Pakistan to OIC, Ambassador Syed Mohammad Fawad Sher, held a meeting with the Secretary General of OIC, H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha, at the OIC Secretariat

JEDDAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) The Permanent Representative of Pakistan to OIC, Ambassador Syed Mohammad Fawad Sher, held a meeting with the Secretary General of OIC, H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha, at the OIC Secretariat.

The Ambassador briefed the Secretary General on Pakistan’s ongoing peace-making and mediatory efforts in the region, including the negotiation of an immediate ceasefire on 08th April 2026 and the hosting of the historic ‘Islamabad Talks’ between Iran and the USA.

Ambassador Fawad Sher highlighted that the Islamabad Talks represented a momentous breakthrough made possible by Pakistan’s close engagement with both parties and its vigorous diplomatic outreach to achieve peace and stability in the region.

He underlined the dedicated efforts of the Pakistani leadership, including the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister and the Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan in bringing the parties to the dialogue table and making avenues for peace.

The Ambassador stressed that Pakistan remains hopeful for continued engagement between the two parties and the maintenance of the ceasefire.

Underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to the principles of dialogue and diplomacy, the Ambassador maintained that Pakistan would continue to play its role in facilitating engagement between the two sides. He also thanked the Secretary General for the OIC’s acknowledgment and appreciation of Pakistan’s role in mediating the ceasefire.

The Secretary General of the OIC thanked the Permanent Representative for the briefing and congratulated Pakistan for hosting the crucial Islamabad talks.

The Secretary General expressed confidence in Pakistan’s ability to facilitate the negotiations between the two sides in a constructive manner in the future as well. The Secretary General also expressed gratitude to the Pakistani leadership for its critical mediatory role in fostering diplomacy and in achieving the ceasefire.

The Secretary General also commended Pakistan’s role as a founding member of the OIC and its proactive engagement in addressing the challenges confronting the Ummah.
