Invite-only summit brings together leadership from ASU–Cintana global alliance, a network spanning 34 institutions across 29 countries and serving more than 350,000 students worldwide.
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-May 7th, 2026) The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Pakistan’s first American University developed in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), represented Pakistan at the ASU–Cintana Presidents’ Summit 2026 held at the Arizona State University campus in Tempe, Arizona.
The invite-only summit brought together leadership from the ASU–Cintana global alliance, a network spanning 34 institutions across 29 countries and serving more than 350,000 students worldwide.
NIT was represented by its Founder and Chancellor, Muhammad Shahzeb Awan, who engaged with leading figures in global higher education including Michael Crow, President of Arizona State University; Doug Becker, Chairman of Cintana Education; and Rick Shangraw, President of Cintana Education.
Awan also participated in a panel discussion alongside university leaders from the American University of Kyiv (Ukraine), the American University of Technology Tashkent, and Galala University (Egypt), contributing to discussions on the future of globally connected higher education.
The summit focused on major global themes shaping the future of education, including artificial intelligence, workforce transformation, advanced technologies, accessibility, employability and globally connected learning models. Discussions highlighted how universities worldwide are adapting to rapid technological and economic change while building more industry-relevant and future-focused education systems.
ASU and Cintana also presented initiatives around semiconductors, AI-integrated education, advanced manufacturing and workforce development, reflecting the increasing global focus on innovation-led universities and knowledge economies.
The summit further explored the future of semiconductor workforce development and advanced manufacturing, as NIT and Arizona State University continue expanding collaboration in emerging technology and workforce development areas.
Observers at the summit noted increasing international interest in Pakistan through academic collaboration, institutional partnerships and exploratory engagement, reflecting growing recognition of the country’s potential within education, innovation and technology sectors.
NIT was also featured within the alliance’s global “Starting New Universities” initiative, representing strategically important regions where ASU and Cintana are expanding internationally connected higher education ecosystems.
With initiatives such as NIT, Pakistan is increasingly positioning itself within global academic and innovation networks, creating new opportunities for students to access internationally aligned education while remaining within the country.
