Pakistan, Türkiye agree to enhance maritime & transport cooperation

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jul, 2026) Pakistan and Türkiye have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the maritime and transport sectors, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing economic connectivity, developing modern infrastructure and promoting sustainable growth.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, and Türkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, held in Istanbul.

During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed the existing cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye and discussed ways to expand collaboration in maritime affairs, transport infrastructure and logistics. They underscored the importance of closer coordination in strengthening economic ties between the two brotherly countries.

The ministers agreed to promote cooperation in the development of maritime infrastructure and modern transport systems, recognising their role in facilitating trade, improving regional connectivity and supporting long-term economic growth.

They also exchanged views on opportunities for sustainable development and explored avenues for encouraging mutual investment in the maritime and transport sectors. Both sides expressed confidence that enhanced collaboration would further deepen the longstanding Pakistan-Türkiye partnership and contribute to greater regional prosperity.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across strategic sectors and strengthening economic and commercial ties.
