The latest Pakistan weather update reveals a mix of cooling rain and localized damage across Punjab and Sindh. While cities like Lahore and Sukkur face flooded streets, a pleasant change in temperature offers a brief respite from the heat. However, a tragic wall collapse in Jahanian reminds us of the storm’s power.
While much of Pakistan has felt the sting of early summer heat, a fresh wave of rain in Punjab and Sindh has finally broken the dry spell. Reports indicate light to heavy showers that have turned the weather quite pleasant in several districts.
Storm Impacts in Punjab and Sindh
In Punjab, the rain moved through Lahore, Lodhran, Vehari, and Burewala. Also significant activities noted in Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Jahanian. Unfortunately, the local news from Jahanian is somber; three people sustained injuries when a wall collapsed during the heavy downpour. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly “pleasant weather” can turn hazardous.
Meanwhile, Sindh saw its own share of the action. Strong winds swept through Ghotki and Ubauro before the light rain started. Further south in Qambar, Shahdadkot, Sukkur, and Shikarpur, the drainage systems struggled. There are reports of low-lying areas being flooded, which is likely to complicate the morning commute for many residents.
Looking ahead at the Pakistan weather forecast, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) suggests this isn’t over yet. While hot and dry conditions will still dominate most of the country, more rain is expected in:
- Islamabad (Federal Capital)
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
- Gilgit-Baltistan
- Kashmir
If you are in these northern or central regions, keep an eye on the sky. The current system seems to be moving steadily, bringing much-needed moisture to a parched landscape.
