Partial ban on mining imposed in Abbottabad under Section 144

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) The Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad has imposed a partial ban on mining activities in the Galdanian area under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, citing public safety concerns.

The decision was made following recommendations from the Senior Inspector of Mines, Hazara Division, and a report submitted by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General). According to the official order, the restriction applies to specific coordinates where surface and underground mining activities were being carried out above a stream.

Officials stated that the measure has been taken to prevent potential hazards and ensure the safety of residents. Under the order, all forms of mining and related activities at these locations are strictly prohibited.

The ban has come into immediate effect and will remain in force for two months. Authorities have warned that any violation will lead to legal action under Section 188 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The district administration has directed all relevant departments to ensure strict enforcement of the order to protect lives and property.
