KOHISTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Jun, 2026) In a major development aimed at resolving the prolonged electricity issues in Patan and its adjoining areas, the essential heavy machinery required for the energization and full operationalization of the Patan Grid Station has been transported from the PESCO Warehouse in Peshawar to the project site, accompanied by a technical team tasked with overseeing the installation process.

According to official sources, the machinery was dispatched on the special directives of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Acting on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Lower Kohistan, the district administration has formally commenced the installation of the equipment and other technical works necessary to make the grid station fully functional.

Officials stated that the entire process is being carried out under the close supervision of the district administration to ensure that all remaining work is completed within the stipulated time frame. The administration has set June 12 as the target date for the completion and operationalization of the grid station.

The latest progress comes in the wake of growing public concern over delays in the project. Just two days ago, residents of the Hindustan area staged a protest and blocked the Karakoram Highway, demanding the immediate completion of the Patan Grid Station.

The protest was later called off after district government officials assured the demonstrators that practical steps had been initiated and that the facility would be completed and made operational by June 12.

Meanwhile, a day before the machinery was shifted to the site, Commissioner Hazara Division chaired a high-level meeting attended by officials from the district administration, PESCO, and other relevant departments. During the meeting, participants reviewed the remaining work on the project and discussed measures to expedite its completion. The Commissioner directed all concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted coordination and remove any administrative or technical hurdles delaying the project.

Local residents have welcomed the commencement of installation work, expressing hope that the long-awaited grid station will significantly improve electricity supply in Patan, Hindustan and surrounding areas, reducing outages and addressing the growing power demands of the region.

Officials reiterated that all available resources are being utilized to meet the June 12 deadline and provide relief to thousands of consumers who have been awaiting the completion of the project for several years.
