Pb govt's decision to make family planning programs more affective

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) The Punjab government has approved important initiatives to make family planning

programs more effective and efficient in rural and urban areas, with the aim of providing

better family welfare and reproductive health facilities to the people.

The Punjab government was of the view that strengthening family welfare programs

was an important part of the public health policy, and would provide full support and

resources to ongoing projects in this regard.

According to official sources, government decides the extension of the scope of family

welfare centers across the province that has been approved so that family planning

facilities could be extended to more people.

The population department had also decided to extend the tenure of community based

family planning workers and other contract employees serving under the project from

2014 to 2021.

The move aims to maintain continuity of family planning services and ensure availability

of manpower.

According to the authorities, necessary measures had been issued to the relevant institutions

to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the Family Welfare Centers project, while the administrative

and financial matters required to continue the services of Community Based Family Planning

Workers will also be completed immediately.

Official sources said that as a result of these measures, the provision of services related

to reproductive health and family planning to the people would be made more effective and better.
