PDMA predicts rainfall in northern, northwestern areas of Punjab

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) The PDMA Punjab has issued an advisory to the relevant departments in view of the possible weather conditions during the next three months, in which unusual weather, heavy rains and heat waves during May, June and July has been predicted.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, there is a possibility of more than normal rainfall in the northern and northwestern areas of Punjab, while less than normal rainfall is expected in eastern Punjab. In addition, rainfall has been predicted to be normal in various areas of central Punjab.

The advisory states that temperatures are likely to remain above normal across the province during May, while a heat wave and severe heat wave are also expected between May 7 and 11.

In view of the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, an alert has been issued to the relevant departments. The letter has been sent to the Local Government, Environment Department, Health Department and education Department, among other institutions.

Similarly, all commissioners, deputy commissioners, police, WASA and Rescue 1122 have also been directed to complete advance arrangements so that any emergency situation can be dealt with effectively.

DG PDMA Omar Javed has said that all departments should ensure advance measures as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, while citizens should take precautionary measures during bad weather conditions, avoid unnecessary travel and use more water in extreme heat.
